November 9-12 2006--SEDS SpaceVision Conference
College students from across the USA gathered in Orlando, Florida for the annual Students for the Exploration and Development of Space "SpaceVision" conference. These young would-be rocket scientists listened to the state of the aerospace industry groups such as the Space Tourism Society, X PRIZE foundation, Space Frontier Foundation, Orbital Outfitters, and Space Generation Foundation.

October 20-21 2006--X PRIZE Cup
Thousands of visitors, including six thousand school children, visited the Las Cruces Airport in New Mexico to witness the amazing space event known as the X PRIZE Cup. The second annual event showcased past and future rocket technology. Highlights included several rocket launches, Armadillo Aerospace's hover rocket, and the Space Elevator competition.

September 18-27, 2006--Anousheh Ansari goes to Space

In another historic boost for the Space Tourism industry, Ms. Anousheh Ansari, successful entrepreneur and prime sponsor of the Ansari X PRIZE competition, spent a week in orbit on board the International Space Station. After six months of training in Russia's Star City, and paying a reported $20 million, Anousheh flew along with the Expedition 14 crew members: NASA astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin. She is the fourth paying space traveler and the first woman.

August 26, 2006--STS Japan Tours Southern California

Over a dozen Japanese students, from high school to college age, conducted a two day tour of key space businesses in Southern California. They wrapped up their trip at John Spencer's Studio in Los Angeles. There they presented the results of their experiences, and learn about space yachts and other space experience projects. Also present were Reda Anderson, passenger for the Kistler-Rocketplane team, STS Vice President Samuel Coniglio, and Karen Lau, Yuri's Night Coordinator.

May 4-7, 2006--International Space Development Conference

ISDC 2006 featured dozens of presentations, panel discussions, interactive exhibits and activities spanning the entire spectrum of space-related issues: exploration, tourism, science, technology, policy, and commerce.

Once again, thousands of young people all over the world gathered to celebrate the anniversary of the first human in space, Yuri Gagarin. Yuri's Night is a global celebration of peace and space travel. This year there were 91 parties in 33 countries on all 7 continents!

April 4, 2006 -- Thought Leader Forum: "Space Billionaires: Educating the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs"

The University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business' Center for Technology Commercialization sponsored a Space Business Forum at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in Los Angeles. Led by Dr. Kathleen Allen, the event featured a keynote by Dr. Peter Diamandis, who described the Rocket Racing League. Other speakers included John Spencer of Space Tourism Society, Hon. Andrea Seastrand of California Space Authority, George Whitesides of National Space Society, and Rick Citron of Citron & Deutsch.

January 1, 2006 -- Party and Fundraiser for the "Planets"

Matthew Joscelyne is an artist who builds planets. Large inflatable planets. Matthew's art was showcased at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. He is currently raising funds to show his work in New York, 2008 Olympics in Beijing and Laguna Beach. For the Laguna Beach show there was an exciting New Year's Eve fund-raising party. The Laguna Beach cultural arts community worked with space communities such as Space Tourism Society, National Space Society, and the Space Frontier Foundation.
